The medic's retort or observation or whatever it was surprised Freyja and mismatched orbs trained on the woman to find a hint of a smile. A deep rumble of a chuckle rolled like thunder through her chest and she grimaced with the pain of her broken ribs. “Ah, okay...so ya do have a sense of humor..." She studied the skilled movement of paws as she began to mix some sort of powder with some liquids.

Her nose wrinkled, showing her distaste for the mystery mixture before it graced her tongue. As it was set before her, Freyja turned her snout up at it and sought out a strange silver orbs in the dark. “Trying to sedate me already? Thought we were startin' to get along just fine..." The marauder feigned a pout. “Rule Number One: Never accept a drink from a stranger unless ya know what it is...so, tell me what that secret brew's made of."

‘Trying to sedate me already? Thought we were startin' to get along just fine...’ Any lesser wolf would have bristled and taken offense; Ashira was the exact opposite. “No one said otherwise,” she bluntly stated. There was no feelings hurt or love lost from Ashira’s point of view. The situation at hand showed the woman’s wounds were the priority of focus and would continue to be so until Ashira’s attention moved elsewhere.

There was a brief pause, where the white female figuratively turned up her nose and pouted to what Ashira had placed in front of her. ‘Rule Number One: Never accept a drink from a stranger unless ya know what it is...so, tell me what that secret brew's made of.’ Ashira’s tail twitched lightly behind her as she considered the concoction she had made for the woman and its purposeful ingredients. “Each patient has the right to know what they are offered and taking,” she truthfully said. A second or two passed before the monochrome woman met the bright gaze of the roughened up female and listed the herbs. “Valerian, lavender, and some chamomile.”

The valerian was the sedative that stood out against the other two, but it was to be expected for what Ashira was most likely going to do.

“Each patient has the right to know what they are offered and taking,"

Freyja leaned back where she lay, giving a nod of agreement, glad to be on the same page with the healer. There was a pause that was longer than anticipated. Was she considering whether to keep some of the details of the ingredients to herself? A massive ivory paw lifted in a gesture to encourage the medic to proceed with what she was saying, while eyes of crimson and ice watched her expectantly. Herbs were then listed off and fortunately she recognized the names, knowing the basics of what each one might do.

“Very well, then." Freyja was pleased that she could get the information she requested without much of a hassle. She adjusted her posture to lean in towards the other female. With a claw she circled the edge of the bowl that held the liquid as she spoke. “Rule Number Two: Determine the cost of goods and services before receivin' ‘em. Nothin' in life is free, darlin', so...what'll it be? Name your price...I'm all ears..."

The conversation they were beginning to have was an improvement from when they first crossed paths only half an hour before. Ashira was not familiar with warm and friendly conversations upon meeting strangers. To be fair, any person whose path she crossed was not a stranger after meeting them. She did not take it personally if the other party involved chose to leave their encounter before she did. Life was too short and she knew that fate would lead her to another destination. Whether or not it involved others meeting or crossing her there was not her choice.

‘Very well, then,’ the woman said as Ashira gave a brief nod before moving towards a shelf a few steps away. The woman appeared engrossed with their conversation as she leaned forward with one claw on the rim of her bowl. ‘Rule Number Two: Determine the cost of goods and services before receivin' ‘em. Nothin' in life is free, darlin', so...what'll it be? Name your price...I'm all ears…’

Ashira’s right paw moved along a few items, her eyes scanning each bottle and container before selecting a couple that were two rows apart. What price would it cost to help patch up this woman? It was a thought that hadn’t been introduced to the nurse in this lifetime. As she pulled a bottle of salve and crushed poppies from the shelf, she carried them towards a sterilized table as she gave her answer. “What can be offered?” She asked. Fate caressed her shoulder as she looked at the woman through a sideways glance before organizing the items on the table in front of her.

Freyja studied every movement of the healer's lithe frame and slender limbs as she reached forward to graze pads across rows of various containers of herbs. While she was more relaxed, there remained the scrutiny of the woman's practice. She'd spent most of her life teetering on the edge of comfort, knowing that the tides could turn in the blink of an eye. Despite a friendly conversation, vigilance was glued to the forefront of her mind...at least until she signed across that dotted line to turn herself over to the medic's care.

No price was to be named. Instead her inquiry was turned back onto her. What could she offer? A breath of a laugh pushed past her lips, a single brow lifting at the dark female. “So ya don't prefer to charge coin like the rest of these quacks? That's a dangerous game, love..." Dark lips were pulled into a smirk, revealing pearly canines. “And lucky for you, I like games." She leaned on an elbow in the bedding, resting her chin on her paw as her grin widened.

“As for what I can offer...depends on what ya seek. As much as I'd like to tell ya I'm a jack of all trades...I'm more of a wild card with a stake in about anything you could think of." Freyja extended her other paw beyond her nest, tracing markings into the ground as she began to go through a list of menu items for the doctor to peruse.

“If ya need passage across the border, you can count on me. Can also break a friend out of prison for ya whether it's a dungeon or a marriage. My specialty is removing women from precarious situations and...making them disappear. Escorting them to safe houses where they get set up with a new identity and given a second chance at life. I can also pull off heists of greedy noblemen...I'm good for trade ‘n negotiations and also for bounty work...let's see what else..." She tapped her temple idly and then bit her lip as a her Cheshire grin reappeared. “I s'pose if yer not into any of that, I'm also a damn good time between the sheets." She added with a wink.

Ashira did not lack vital things in life. Fate and destiny kept her belly full, her mind sharp, and her path any shape they wanted. She never wavered from the road of life she had been given. There had been potential temptations and distractions along the way in her four years, but she did not lean towards them too long. This conversation that was happening between her and her potential patient was one of those things along her path that was meant to take place.

‘So ya don't prefer to charge coin like the rest of these quacks? That's a dangerous game, love.. And lucky for you, I like games.’ That tidbit of information stored itself into Ashira’s brain for a later time. In that moment, she nodded once. A brief pause, then:

‘As for what I can offer...depends on what ya seek. As much as I'd like to tell ya I'm a jack of all trades...I'm more of a wild card with a stake in about anything you could think of.’ As she continued to organize the ingredients for the salve she was going to use, ears were perked in Freyja’s direction. Her peripheral vision saw the woman make a list with one paw and her other held her chin in place.

‘If ya need passage across the border, you can count on me. Can also break a friend out of prison for ya whether it's a dungeon or a marriage. My specialty is removing women from precarious situations and...making them disappear. Escorting them to safe houses where they get set up with a new identity and given a second chance at life. I can also pull off heists of greedy noblemen...I'm good for trade ‘n negotiations and also for bounty work...let's see what else...’ So many things to pick from, so many ways to use her that could be taken advantage of by pettier wolves. Ashira remained quiet and lifted a bottle as Freyja voiced one last thing. ‘I s'pose if yer not into any of that, I'm also a damn good time between the sheets.’ She winked in Ashira’s direction, a Cheshire grin spread across her face.

By the time Freyja had admitted her good time by all in the bedroom, Ashira had a bowl placed in front of the jars of powders and liquids. Glancing at all of them, she turned her head towards the white female before speaking. “A Jill of many trades,” she bluntly stated. “Suppose what you offer can be acquired later rather than today. Would that be accepted?”

“A Jill of many trades..."

That is what the medic called her as she set down a bowl and an assortment of powders and liquids. That's as much of a reaction she could gain from this one. She was cool and collected, but with a job like this Freyja supposed she would have to be. Someone who was familiar with blood and guts...yes, that was a special sort of someone. “I prefer to be called Captain, but yes, I am a woman with many skills...and always eager to learn more."

Freyja once again regarded the ashen female with suspicion as she asked for payment to be collected at a later time. “So...you'd rather hold me to an...IOU of sorts?" She'd expected to have to at least sign off on something, but who was she to argue with a deal like this. “Very well..." The arctic female then pulled something from a small satchel she carried and slid it towards the woman with her paw over it.

When she drew her paw back, she revealed a gold coin with a crest in one side that was specific to her crew. “Ya show this to anybody about the docks of Sussex and they'll send for me. I'm at your beck and call, Doc, and you'll find I'mma woman of word." She then breathed in and out slowly, the strain on her ribs reminding her why she was there. “Welp...if we have a deal...I'll down this cocktail of yours and you can do yer worst."

Ashira

‘I prefer to be called Captain, but yes, I am a woman with many skills...and always eager to learn more.’ Her title did not go unnoticed, yet Ashira did not visually show any sign she caught her patient’s claim. There were many wolves on this continent with numerous titles, some repetitive, some standing alone. Ashira had no title - there had not been a reason upon her road of life for her to have one - and she felt indifferent to what it could do for her. Until it happened, she would remain in the dark as fate saw fit.

The conversation continued after Ashira asked of a later payment from the captain. ‘So...you'd rather hold me to an...IOU of sorts?’ There was a very brief pause before her patient said, ‘Very well.’ A dirty white paw reached into her satchel and the sound of gold sliding across metal filled the room and vibrated around Ashira’s ears. ‘Ya show this to anybody about the docks of Sussex and they'll send for me. I'm at your beck and call, Doc, and you'll find I'mma woman of word.’ Silver eyes noticed the gold glint that had been caught by the light. The coin gleamed and appeared to dance as Ashira reached over with her left paw to retrieve it. Satisfaction was not said, but felt in the air between them as she picked it up and placed it in a small compartment of her own satchel. The deal was struck; a bargain was made.

It did not take long for the captain to remember why she was there. A short intake of breath relating to pain and soreness came out, quickly followed by, ‘Welp...if we have a deal...I'll down this cocktail of yours and you can do yer worst.’ Ashira met the bicolored eyes of her patient and she firmly nodded before saying, “We have a deal…the cocktail will take around fifteen minutes to work. Once it has started its course, I will begin.” Pain was not to be feared, but Ashira knew compliance came best when it was not felt. As she watched Freyja drink the medicine like a shot of liquor, she organized and then began to work on cleaning her paws and beginning her treatments. A soft thunk indicated that Freyja s head had relaxed against the bed, confirming that the cocktail had done its job. Ashira wasted no time as she began to assess and clean the affected areas.

Freyja downed the concoction like a shot of strong liquor. Immediately her tongue writhed and burst free from her maw in a shameless show of disgust once she'd swallowed it. “Nasty stuff that is-hic! Freyja hiccuped as she shoved the glass away with a cough to follow.

She glanced at the doctor acknowledging what she was saying about the drugs with a nod. It would take fifteen minutes, she'd said. Fifteen minutes, my ass... The arctic beast shook her head already feeling the effects of the potent drink, giving a snort as she gave the dark woman a look of suspicion. “Do ya even know how strong...ya made...this...shiii-"

No matter how hard she fought it, world around her began to disappear as the corners of her vision began to darken. Her large head lolled and then ultimately collapsed upon her paws. The last thing she saw was the shape of the female medic silhouetted by shadow standing over her. As she faded, a grin pulled at her lips as she thought with amusement, Wish ya coulda been hoverin' over me under different circumstances, Doc...
