premise

The rejects. The underdogs. The downtrodden. As a mixed bag of second-hand soldiers, the Regiment is often considered to be the dregs of the army proper. Wolves of the Regiment are typically 'undesirable' in some way - whether due to their origin, their blood, or their personal service history. Whatever the case, being assigned to the Regiment is often considered a punishment, and sometimes even an insult.

Much to the gentry's chagrin, however, members of the Regiment often wear their status as a badge of pride. Internally, they call themselves "the Forsaken", and share a warm sense of comradery that is rarely observed within the army. Wolves of the Reserve are assigned one of two kinds of jobs - either the dirty, dangerous duties that no one else will deign to handle, or else the boring, lackluster positions that earn their actors neither fame nor glory.

As a unit, the Regiment has a relatively poor reputation, despite their overall illustrious service record. They are more popular amongst the peasantry - who regard them as "soldiers of the people" - than the nobility.

history

As a bastard by blood, Kvothe was not expected to rise as high as he did. The higher-ups among the military delight in sabotaging his command, assigning him the soldiers no other Colonel would otherwise claim. Kvothe accepts the dregs of the army with open hands, and polishes each piece of coal until they become sharp, gleaming diamonds.

During the war, the Regiment distinguished themselves with various acts of valor - though they also stepped on quite a few toes by being more 'lenient' towards the upstart Highlanders than was the fashion at the time. Now, they are often assigned to far-flung patrol, and are often tasked with keeping the peace amongst the rabble.

details

acceptance

All. The army is traditionally composed of mainlanders, but Kvothe does not turn away capable soldiers. His Regiment is more mixed than most, as wolves beneath his command need not worry about prejudice or bigotry as long as they are willing and able to follow orders.

headquarters

Kvothe holds court from the Immortalis Manse in Castle Stuart, but when the Regiment is actively assigned, they are more likely to congregate around the Imperial Barracks in Yorkshire.
