[ P ] Evergreen

An entire day indulging in one another's bliss until their energy was spent...who could ever ask for more? Every touch, every sound, every sensation...it breathed new life into them both. All she ever wanted was to be close with her husband and when he was close...she always found herself longing to be closer still. Even so...it was more than satiating the desires of their flesh...it was the connection to one another when all of time stood still in those moments where each of them experienced that brief transcendence to the heavens. Clover had to wonder how it was that they'd starved themselves of each other for as long as they had. Right here and right now...doing so felt impossible.

Resting comfortably with her love, she rested her head lazily against his neck, every once in a while tilting her head back to delicately kiss him beneath the chin. She wanted to show him that her love for him was boundless and neverending, even after they'd gone beyond the point of exhaustion. Clover's eyelashes fluttered as she began to drift somewhere between consciousness and slumber, but when her name was called she lifted her head. She followed her mate's gaze to find the sky illuminated, her eyes rounding with awe as she beheld its beauty.

“Oh, Cian...look at all the colors. A river of greens and pinks and blues and purples...it's wonderful." The young mother signed, her smile adding vibrance to her glow as she looked up at Cian. “Happy Anniversary..." She softly murmured against his muzzle, taking comfort in the warmth of his embrace and his loving presence. “May we always find sanctuary and paradise in one another's arms...I can't wait for what tomorrow brings..."

He was surrounded by beauty. Not for the first time in the years they had lived as companions, Cian contemplated what he had done to deserve the joyous life he had found with Clover. How sad and empty his life would have been without her and their family? They had never been apart, even for a single night, since they were in adolescence. Now, their own teenaged children were about to become adults themselves. And perhaps there would be the pitter patter of tiny paws in the near future, if fate allowed. Despite everything their family had endured during the last year, the thought brought a lasting contentment. The more, the merrier. The bigger the family, the bigger the love.

For now, as the hours dwindled and their first wedding anniversary drew closer to its conclusion, Cian was content to simply exist in his wife’s warmth, to live in the sweetness of her scent and her sighs, beneath a sky alight with magic. The sky was stunning, but nothing could compare to the smile on Clover’s faze as she gazed up at him lovingly. “May we always find sanctuary and paradise in one another's arms...I can't wait for what tomorrow brings..." He murmured a quiet noise of agreement. He nestled his face beside Clover’s, exhaling a soft, contented yawn. ”Can’t wait.”

Finally, the lull of exhaustion after such a busy day drew him ever closer to sleep. With a smile still decorating his muzzle, Cian drifted off into a peaceful slumber.
