Ashira had not known what her future would hold, but that was always automatic. She wouldn’t be told about her future, even if it was mere seconds away from her present state of body and mind. Karma and the cosmos worked together for her, guiding her on a path with unseen twists and turns, but never rocky. As long as she did not stumble or stray, Ashira would go where she was meant to appear.

Being in the army and working in the war was not something many wolves would have tried to successfully endure. Ashira, however, was not like normal wolves. She had completed each task, big and small, for each day she woke up and finished all of them without complaint. She rarely tired and she didn’t find any negative thoughts regarding her role in this war, so she was content while being contemplative with the process.

Her rank had been given a promotion and she was now the charge nurse of the medic tents. Plenty of wounded soldiers had appeared the last couple of months, some straggled, others barely made it and hung on by a tiny thread of life. Her nursing ethic for the people coming in had proved to be resilient, though her bedside manner the only thing that others had to realize was her natural self. Even though she had a new rank, she did not have it affect her persona or how she handled each day that came with purpose.

She had left the barracks a day or two before, leaving her duties to the second ranked nurse per orders from the commanding officer. The mission given to her was a simple one, though it was random and most likely unheard of: follow up with soldiers healing at home, regardless of time. Their ranks were the only order she received, proving that those with higher ranks would be seen as priorities. Ashira was given a few names and their homes, but that was all she would need.

With her healing items in her replenished bag, she found herself coming to the main patient for the day: Colonel Nalik. When she arrived on his doorstep, Ashira looked over the door and its potentially eye-catching frame before she knocked three times upon the wood. She remained calm and patient as she waited for a response.

do not press this,
I am relentless.
Spring was around the corner and with it came his eighth birthday. He was feeling his age more and more as of late, the fae magic he didn't believe in slowly ebbing away. It was part of what had driven him to his decision. Nalik Verlice was retiring. He had given the better part of his life to the army and now he was ready to step back, to let the weight fall onto someone elses shoulders. Kenzo had been promoted to Colonel, it seemed fitting that the Verlice patriarch pass the gauntlet onto his son. A part of him considered returning home, to his true home in the outlands. It had been years since he'd been back, though he received regular updates every season that the estate was being tended to.

Much weighed on the old wolfs mind as he returned home. It would have been to great a mercy for him to simply walk into his home and simply relax. As he approached his home, someone was already waiting for him, The monochromatic coat of the medic woman was not unfamiliar to him. He suspected this might be one her final rechecks, or someone had sent to make sure he hadn't lost his mind when he handed in his retirement paperwork. Either way, she was here now.

The woman was impossible to crack, her mask never ventured from its unshakeable neutrality. Her voice never rose or dipped and there was nothing more than polite and professional warmth in those silver eyes. "What can I do for you?" He said as he approached her from behind, walking up the stone path to his front door. The gruff rumble of his voice was no warmer nor no colder than it was ever. The Colonel got to the point, wanting to know her purpose so she might fulfill it and be on her way.

talk like this.

Ashira

Ashira was not told by anyone that the Colonel was out and about, explaining why it would have appeared to be a dreadful long time for her to patiently wait on his stoop. If she had been any other wolf - normal, we should say - she would have grown impatient and moved on to another planned part of her day. Ashira, of course, was not like normal wolves, and remained on the stoop with her priorities set in place. Due to those duties and destiny making sure she was doing what she was supposed to, she refrained from any negative thoughts or comments when she was approached from behind, not in front. 'What can I do for you?'

His voice was gruff and remained as neutral as the Colonel chose to make it sound. As the front steps were wide enough for two full grown wolves to stand on, Ashira merely scooted a few inches to the Colonel's left, bright eyes meeting his without hesitation or fear. "Give me the time of day I need to look you over for your last checkup." Ashira's tail flicked behind her once as she waited for Nalik to open and push the door in. Her assessment would not be done in the open, for the public to try and see. Patient confidentiality - whether military man or not - was of the strictest set of rules that Ashira knew to follow.
