Profile of Falltore

His fur consists of a patchwork of beiges and light browns intermingled around his body with black accents in several spots, in no discernible pattern. He does, however, have a blaze of white, more or less, on his upper chest. While most of his body has rather thick fur, his tail is somewhat scarcely furred in comparison. What is perhaps most notable of his appearance, something that he does not bring attention to, is his face and head. While his body overall might suggest him to be a handsome specimen, his face is rather horrifying to behold. Due to wounds suffered previously, severe burns to most of his face, he is heavily scarred and scarcely furred across most of his snout, top of his head, and the back of his neck. He is missing substantial amounts of flesh beneath his eyes, with several spots rough, bumpy, or loose, and scars almost like a spider's web criss-crossing what remains. His eyes, in a departure from the sapphire blue commonly seen among those of Highlander birth, are pale blue, almost lifeless. While he was blind for some time from his injuries, his vision did manage to recover enough to be reliable. Of course, discoloration is apparent in his sclera as a result. Part of his left ear is also missing, approximately 20% from the tip down. As a result of the injuries he has suffered at the hands of war, he usually wears leaves plastered to his face with a resilient sap paste. He is never more than a few hours without them on, a day at most, given that the pain he experiences is truly debilitating. It is not often that wolves see his deformed face, but it happens from time to time.

As a youth, Falltore was ambitious, charismatic, a smooth talker who played the game of politics quite well. He sought glory, and cared not for the expense it came at. He was always a selfish prick in that regard, looking out primarily only for himself, and was willing to say or do anything to get his ways. He did, however, used to have some redeemable qualities: a sense of humor for one (however dark or distasteful it might have been). But in the past year, that small flame was extinguished. Falltore as he is now is cold, distant, emotionally unavailable. He remains a good conversationalist, but is never one to find friendship, and always has an angle. But above all else, he holds his charge highest of all, and takes his role within the Imperial Army, and all the beliefs that come with it, seriously. He does not respond well to those speaking ill of the Crown, or especially those sympathetic to the Highlanders and their culture. And if given the chance, he will not flinch to do whatever he desires to send the right message. His apathy towards them, once a mere dislike, has become the bane of his existence. In conversation, Falltore plays the role of a fake friend, but is always investigating, searching, prodding for something. A desire, a weakness, a goal, a vulnerability. While he follows his orders well enough, his recent disillusionment has brought him to the point of almost madness, in that he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve the goals he believes all true Imperials must.

-Little is definitively known on Falltore’s upbringing, as he has never openly discussed it. It is known, however, that he is Highlander by birth, his complexion bearing similarity to clans of little renown in the vicinity of Perth. It is believed that his family’s clan went extinct during the end of Aileen’s rebellion.

-Earliest records of Falltore indicate that he enlisted with the imperial Army at Yorkshire around the age of 1. Disciplinary records indicate that he received routine punishment, involved in numerous fights and brawls, likely due to his Highlander birth. He was reprimanded and punished for a handful retaliatory infractions as well. Psychological evaluations raised concerns of his isolate tendencies, lack of sleep, and lack of honor in combat exercises.

-Based on his training performances, he was recommended for officer’s training and thrived. While there was naturally some concern of allowing a Highlander among such ranks, his actions and words won the right wolves over, though some surely remained unconvinced. Needless to say, following his commission and subsequent performance, Falltore left no doubt as to his loyalties.

-His commitment to his charge, familiarity with Highlander norms and tendencies, and charismatic persona brought him some renown early on. He served a minor part in advising senior Imperial officers on strategizing how to combat Jacobite forces. Despite this, out of concern for his heritage, Falltore was not often employed in combat situations. Among his first assignments were the arrests made following the assassination attempt on King Adamh. Despite his recommendations for a show of force, those arrested were given quite lenient sentences, something that he never quite got over.

-His lack of compromise, brutality, and dedication caught the eye of Colonel Nalik, who requested Falltore be transferred to his unit in Autumn 1708. While he initially was responsible for identifying, capturing, interrogating, and ultimately dealing with Voxi or Thieves Guild members within the Mainlands proper, following Prince Jacob’s return, was employed to target Jacobite assets. Falltore proved himself quite capable with this, being responsible for the capture or removal of close to 130 Jacobite assets to date. It is believed that his success is attributed not so much to a need to prove himself, but rather the personal stakes and contempt he holds for Highlanders in their protest of the monarchy.

-As conditions destabilized within the Mainlands, Falltore was occasionally involved in arresting dissenting wolves on the homefront. Yet, when Jacob’s rebellion intensified and conditions demanded it, Falltore was assigned to combat. Falltore proved himself quite capable as a leader and strategist, albeit in small, insignificant engagements. He was particularly brutal towards captured Jacobites, but always provided valuable intelligence to his superiors. Those serving under him had mixed feelings of him, with some finding his fearlessness inspirational, while others his commitment borderline obsessive. He was quite willing to risk the lives of his soldiers, sometimes for what seemed a cost not worth it. He was accused by many Jacobites as well of committing atrocities against non-combatants, but this was either not proven in court or not acted upon.

-In Winter 1709, frustrated with the lack of success in gathering information on Freeman’s Foretress, Falltore himself led a party to scout the fort out, but was captured en route. To a man, every wolf in his command were brutally tortured and killed, save for him. That being said, having been surmised to be a Highlander defector and now an Imperial officer, his captors made an example of him and left him for dead. His ear was torn, his face burned with hot oil, his bones broken and misshapen, his skin peeled from his face, and a number of hideously barbaric, cruel treatments no wolf should endure. Having not given up any information, he was left for dead, later being discovered by an Imperial scouting party weeks later.

-As his wounds were severe and he was barely alive, he was cared for in an Imperial infirmary, and was deemed to not be able to fight anymore. Due to the severity of his wounds, Falltore spent the next 9 months recuperating privately. Despite the efforts of every doctor, his treatment was only mildly successful, though many insist he is lucky to be alive at all. Though his eyesight was not lost and feeling returned to his face eventually, day after day was spent in considerable pain, something he never got over. Because of this, he relied on a number of salve treatments to manage his pain, something he must now continually use. During this time, he was put on furlough and saw no combat or involvement with the later part of the war.

-In early Autumn 1710, after a lengthy recovery Falltore was declared fit for service again, but would not see combat. Though he continued his work on apprehending Jacobite agitators in the Mainlands, the end of the war brought many changes, namely the cessation of hostilities and the independence of Saora. It was upon hearing this news, in fact, that brought Falltore back into the fold. He was irate with this, incensed by this change of tone, that all of his work and suffering was for nothing now that the war was over. To be denied his chance at retribution angered him deeply.

-In serving in his original role of hunting down enemies of the Crown within Rionna with an even more determined prejudice, as well as for his particular disdain for the cessation of hostilities, Falltore garnered the reputation of a rabid dog. And yet, he was productive for the Crown with what he did. Thankfully, this was noticed by Colonel Nalik, and given their agreed sentiments on the state of affairs, promoted Falltore to Lieutenant-Major in Winter 1710 and authorized him to act on behalf of the Crown against its enemies, wherever they may look. This, of course, was slang for the annihilation of the infantile Saora and the righting of a great wrong done to the realm.

-In an agreement reached with Colonel Nalik, Falltore was given command of his own regiment, who act somewhat autonomously from the conventional army. Known as The Eternal Promise, these troops are specially trained, well paid, and highly selective. Their actions are discreet and need-to-know, but almost always involve atypical military targets, such as apprehending spies, monitoring of dissidents towards the Crown, and “protection of Rionna from the illegitimate band to its north”. Conscripts, foreigners, inexperienced soldiers, anyone with a blemish on their record, or who shows an unwillingness to follow orders are not accepted.

-While The Eternal Promise has not done much since its recent founding, its actions will soon include the apprehension of enemies to the Crown, wherever they might live. Of course, how far this goes remains to be seen. Who knows, he might be coming to a Highlander hamlet near you.
