Profile of Khepri

always the outcast, khepri inherited nothing but anxiety and low-self esteem from his parents. he is muted in coloration and small in stature. weak in both body and mind, he is everything a proper disappointment could be.

a disappointment to his mother, abandoned by his father, the only boy born in a family run by women...

it was not an easy life and perhaps that was why he left it all behind. he ventured out into rionnach with nothing but the fur on his back and somehow he managed to carve out a small place for himself. he met a woman, a young doctor in the college named rosalie and before too long they were wed and expecting. he was so in love with rosalie, his beautiful wife of autumn and winter. together they had a single daughter, ismailia. the two young parents raised her together with love and care; they were all so happy... until rosalie got sick.

nobody could figure out what was wrong with his wife and he had to watch alongside their daughter as she slowly withered away.

on the day of her funeral, he had never felt more alone. he'd always felt rosalie was too good for him and that this one good moment in time wasn't ever really... real. but now that it was gone all too quick he realized just what had been taken from him. she had been his only true escape and now she was gone. he then looked upon his daughter and with a broken heart he sent her away to live with their extended family, knowing that her fiery nature would get her further in the army than the college. there she would have structure, and a level of safety he alone could not provide. he did this because he loved her and not because... because he couldn't stomach to look at her and be reminded of the love he'd lost.

he is alone again and in the wake of his family's death he is left without purpose. he had learned so many things from rosalie and the college before and throughout their marriage so he joined and became a physican like his late wife. he had failed to help her and so he would strive to figure out why.

then the rebellion happened and he was faced with his failures yet again. so he gave up his position to become a professor instead, thinking that his skills were not good enough to actually practice and that he was better off teaching the younger generation instead. as time went on he developed an addiction to many things, valerian being the worst of it. even his pelt carries a hint of the little white flowers everywhere he goes. but he's a professor of medicine, so of course he'd smell like herbs... he knows it's wrong but he doesn't know what else he can do to kill the pain.
